A Highly compressed Assassin's Creed download for those on a tight data plan. #How I saved on my phone bill #BY: Blogger Name I recently switched to a new cellular provider, and boy am I glad that I did! With great service and low prices, of course it was a no-brainer of a decision. In the process of switching over, though, I forgot about the few gigabytes of data that still remained on my old plan from years ago. But despite being only 16MB in size, Assassin's Creed is still too big for most mobile providers to be able to transfer it. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I purchased this product which happens to be an off-the-shelf Android app that is known as "TinyUmbrella." The software will essentially turn your computer into a BitTorrent client. Basically, I was able to download the game onto my desktop and then use that same computer to transfer it onto my mobile phone (which can only hold up to 2GB of data at one time). Once the download was complete, though, there was still more work left to do. My first step towards transferring the game properly was creating a new playlist on iTunes (which makes file transfers much faster) titled "Assassin's Creed. m4a." After that, all I had to do was sync my phone (which also serves as an iPad) to my computer through iTunes. At that point, I navigated to the "Playlists" section in iTunes and selected the playlist that contained the game. Once that was done, I clicked the sync button, and within 10 minutes it was completely transferred onto my phone! While this does seem like a lot of work, I really did save myself a lot of money over the long run. Now, whenever I want to play Assassin's Creed or any other big game on my phone, I just stick it on this playlist and within minutes it's ready to go. Of course, if you don't want to go through all of this bother, you can just use a highly compressed version of the game.
